Abstract

The fact that the Dede Korkut texts are in different volumes is an important clue that shows that they were performed and changed in different ways in the oral tradition. Especially the Oghuznames, which are in the form of very small texts, are the most striking examples of this issue. The fact that these texts are in different size, content and formats in different manuscripts also shows that they have been widely adopted and become widespread in the oral tradition. In Dede Korkut texts, there are epic stories, which are generally called tribe, and poetic praise texts, which are called lineage. In addition, in these texts, we sometimes witness examples of tribes arranged in the form of lineage with poetic features.As an example of this, the section in which the conquest of Aras and Kars Castle is mentioned in the Oghuzname texts included in the Dresden, Günbed and Topkapı Palace manuscripts can be given.The text in question has been handled in different ways in all three manuscripts. Therefore, it is clear that we are dealing with different versions of the same story in the three manuscripts. It is always possible, even inevitable, that the same narrative is handled in different ways in manuscripts based on oral tradition.It can be said that this situation is closely related to the desire of the narrator poets to reconstruct the Dede Korkut texts that have persisted for centuries. Because poets, choose the way to prove their mastery of words and talents. As a result of this choice and preference, beyond transferring the oral texts they perform, they process the texts in different ways with their own styles, pour them into different molds and present them.
